Jason D. Black, Managing Director
Jason D. Black is a Managing Director at Fundamental and a member of the Investment Team. At Fundamental Mr. Black has held leadership roles on several infrastructure, energy and hospitality investments. Prior to joining Fundamental, Mr. Black was an Associate in the Real Estate Group of GSO Capital Partners, the high-yield credit hedge fund subsidiary of The Blackstone Group. Mr. Black focused on investments in the real estate industry, including the analysis of private debt and equity investments, public securities and special situation/distressed opportunities. Prior to that, Mr. Black was an Analyst in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group of Goldman Sachs. His primary responsibilities included the underwriting and analysis of mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance advisory assignments in the real estate industry. Mr. Black graduated with an A.B. in Political Science from Duke University.
Robert K. Jacobsen, Managing Director
Robert Jacobsen is a Managing Director and a member of the Senior Management Team. Prior to joining Fundamental, Mr. Jacobsen was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs where he oversaw the firm’s Municipal Structured Lending Business. While at Goldman, he also managed the firm’s municipal asset securitization business. His experience encompasses a wide variety of investment types with a focus on real estate and project financings in the municipal market. Mr. Jacobsen received his MBA from the University of Michigan and B.A. and M.A. degrees from the Columbia University.
Jonathan D. Stern, Managing Director
Jonathan D. Stern is a Managing Director at Fundamental and a member of the Investment Team. Mr. Stern's focus areas at Fundamental include senior care, healthcare, tribal gaming, affordable housing, student housing, and credit/opportunistic investments. While at Fundamental, Mr. Stern has held leadership roles on several large senior care transactions as well as serving on a restricted creditor committee in connection with a multi-billion dollar debt restructuring. Mr. Stern graduated from Bucknell University in May 2007 with a B.A. in history. While attending college, Mr. Stern worked in the educational publishing industry for several years and also spent time as a legal assistant at Nassau Suffolk Law Services Committee Inc., a non-profit law firm specializing in poverty law.
